When you first launch YNAB on your iPad, you'll be prompted to link your Dropbox account in order to access your Cloud Sync budgets. Follow the on-screen directions to do so. If you didn't create a Cloud Sync budget in YNAB 4 or you are using YNAB 3, choose the "Use Legacy Sync Instead" option.
The iPad app allows for entering and editing transactions, and budgeting on your ipad.
To add a transaction, tap the "Add Transaction" button that's located at the top of the screen. Fill in the fields, then tap "Save Transaction" to finish.
To add a split transaction , enter the transaction normally but tap "Split" on the budget category selection screen.
To transfer money from one account to another, enter the transaction amount normally. On the payee selection screen, choose the account that will receive the money.
To enter income, tap "Add Transaction" and then "Income". Choose "Income for [this month]" or "Income for [next month]" from the category selection screen.
To edit a transaction tap the transaction you want to edit. Tap the amount to reveal the keypad.
To bulk edit transactions tap edit transactions in the account register. Tap on the transactions you wish to edit then choose Delete, Clear or Unclear. Click done with finished.
To delete a transaction from an account, slide from right to left on the transaction to reveal the transaction controls. Tap "delete" to delete the transaction. You can also delete transactions from the edit transactions view.
To clear a transaction, slide from right to left to reveal the transaction controls. Tap "clear" to toggle the cleared status. Alternatively, when adding or editing a new transaction tap the "cleared" switch.
To mix inflows and outflows in a split transaction, tap the split amount box to flip the +/- sign.
To view transactions for a specific account, tap the menu button in the top left corner and select an account.
Scheduled transactions will appear in the appropriate registers automatically when specified.
YNAB now supports Voice Over Support.
Using your iPad’s GPS, Geo-Smart payees can automatically set the payee and category for a new transaction based on where you are.
Precision might suffer if it only has WiFi connectivity and not 3g.
To use Geo-Smart Payees, make sure "Use GPS" is active by opening the menu and tapping the gear icon. When you add a transaction at a new location, a globe icon will appear next to the payee name indicating that the location will be saved. The payee and category will be automatically set for any future transaction at this location.
To prevent a location from being added, tap the globe icon next to the payee name.
To remove a location from a payee open the menu and tap the gear icon and select "Payee Locations". Select the payee that you would like to remove the location from. A map will be displayed that shows all the locations saved for this payee. Tap the pin you'd like to remove, then tap the "i" icon to delete it.
To view the details of a category, tap on it.
To sync the budget, pull down on the budget screen.
To view a different month, tap the arrows to the left and right of the month, or swipe left or right.
To switch to a different budget, tap on the name of the budget at the top of the menu. Then in the Budget Picker, tap on the name of the budget you want to open.
To edit budget amounts tap on the category and enter a new number. Once you’re in edit mode, you can use the quick budget options that appear at the bottom of the screen by tapping on them. You can move to the next budget item by clicking on next. At the top of the edit drawer, there's a formula that will update as you type so you can see the results of your changes without committing the change yet.
To view the transactions for a specific category, tap on the outflow amount.
The cloud icon means that budget hasn’t been downloaded to the phone yet. Once the app is connected to the internet again, it will update automatically. Tap on your current budget and it will download a fresh copy.
To set a passcode on your budget tap on the settings icon at the top of the menu. Toggle Passcode to ‘On’ and enter your Passcode.
To view your account balances tap on the menu button. To view transactions within a specific account, tap on the account name.
To move money from one category to another, tap on the green category balance you want to move. Enter the amount you want to move and the category you want to send it to.
To cover overspending, tap the red category balance and select another category to cover the overspending.
