Quick Budget provides you with a number of options to make your monthly budgeting easier, while leaving you in control. You can activate it by clicking on the lightning bolt in the header at the top of the month.
This menu will appear:
Quick Budget only fills all empty budgeted cells. If you know some categories will have different amounts than the prior month, go ahead and budget those first. Quick Budget will not overwrite them since it only fills in the empty cells.
The options are:
Budget values used last month - This will copy the numbers from last months budgeted column into the new month.
Outflows last month - This will copy the numbers from last month’s outflow column - effectively what you spent last month - into the new month.
Average outflows for the last 3 months - Once you have three months of data, this option will appear. It represents your average spending for the past three months.
Average outflows for the past year - Once you have a years worth of data, this option will appear. It represents your average spending for the past year.
Total scheduled outflows this month - This will copy information you’ve entered in the scheduler into the Budget. For example, if you have a scheduled transactions for $120 for the electric bill, choosing this option will enter that number in your electricity category.
Balance to Zero - This moves all your category balances to the Available to Budget number, effectively zeroing out each category balance.
Keep in mind that this will bring ALL your category balances to zero: including rainy day funds and Pre-YNAB debt balances. If that was not your intention, you would need to re enter that information.
Zero all budgeted amounts for this month - This will replace all budgeted amounts with zero. If you want to start over for the month, this is a good place to start.
You can access this same menu on a category by category basis. Activate the Budget column by clicking in it, and the drop down menu will appear:
