Using YNAB for iPhone

When you first launch the app, you'll be prompted to link your Dropbox account in order to access your Cloud Sync budgets. Follow the on-screen directions to do so. If you didn't create a Cloud Sync budget in YNAB 4 or you are using YNAB 3, choose the "Use Legacy Sync Instead" option.

Transactions

To add a transaction, tap the "Add Transaction" button that's located at the bottom of the budget or account screen. Fill in the fields, then tap "Save Transaction" to finish.

To create a payee, tap on payee after starting a new transaction.  Type the name of the payee in the box at the top of the screen and then tap "Create [name] payee" underneath it.

To add a split transaction that affects multiple budget categories, enter the transaction normally but tap "Split" on the budget category selection screen.

To transfer money from one account to another, enter the transaction normally. On the payee selection screen, choose the account that will receive the money.

To enter income tap "Add Transaction" and then "income". Choose "income for [this month]" or "income for [next month]" from the category selection screen.

To view transactions, either tap on a budget category or tap the menu button in the top left corner and select an account.

To edit a transaction simply tap the transaction you want to edit. Tap the amount to reveal the keypad.

To delete a transaction, slide from right to left on the transaction to reveal the transaction controls. Tap "delete" to delete the transaction.

To clear a transaction, slide from right to left to reveal the transaction controls. Tap "clear" to toggle the cleared status. Alternatively, when adding or editing a new transaction tap the "cleared" switch.

To mix inflows and outflows in a split transaction, tap the split amount box to flip the +/- sign.

Geo-Smart Payees

Geo-Smart payees use location awareness to automatically set the category and payee for a new transaction based on where you are.

To use Geo-Smart Payees make sure "Use GPS" is active by opening the menu and tapping the gear icon. When you add a transaction at a new location the location will be saved. The payee and category will be automatically set for any future transaction at this location.

To prevent a location from being saved, tap the globe icon next to the payee name.

To remove a location from a payee open the menu and tap the gear icon and select "Payee Locations". Select the payee that you would like to remove the location from. A map will be displayed that shows all the locations saved for this payee. Tap the pin you'd like to remove, then tap the "i" icon to delete it.

Budget

To view the details of a category, tap on it.

To search for a category, type the name of the category in the search bar at the top of the budget.

To sync the budget, pull down on the budget screen.

To switch to a different budget, tap on the name of the budget at the top of the menu. Then tap on the name of the budget you want to open.

To set a passcode on your budget tap on the settings icon at the top of the menu. Toggle Passcode to ‘On’ and enter your Passcode.

To pin (or unpin) a favorite category, swipe left to right on a category and tap “pin”, or tap on the category and tap “pin” in the upper right hand corner.

To reorder pinned categories, tap reorder, then tap on the horizontal lines, hold and drag to the new location.  Then tap done.
